This FDLA sponsored presentation will provide a review of the regulations governing the operation of dental laboratories in the state of Florida. Requirements for facility registration, continuing education, and inspection will be discussed, as well as required disclosure of materials and point of origin. Rules for chairside services will also be reviewed.

Protecting Patient Health Information: What Dental Laboratory Owners and Technicians Need to Know!
This SafeLink Consulting sponsored regulatory compliance course focus on the requirements for HIPAA. Most dental labs now receive and transmit Protected Health Information (PHI) electronically with their dental clients and partners. This may be through emails, text messaging, chat applications, and case management portals. How the lab is protecting PHI at rest and in transit is essential to being compliant with all of the rules that are part of HIPAA. The Office of Civil Rights has the authority to audit covered entities to ensure that the business is fulfilling the regulatory requirements. Gary will review what labs need to do in order to ensure that they are taking the steps needed to protect PHI and to be ready should an audit occur.
