Protecting the Dental Team and Patients from Hazardous Chemical Exposures and the Respirable and Contact Diseases Which May Result from Exposures
This course is designed for dental professionals. It provides an in-depth review of regulatory requirements and best practices for minimizing hazardous chemical exposures in the dental environment.

The course will examine the respirable and contact diseases that may be caused or exacerbated by exposure to these chemicals. Participants will examine OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard (29 CFR 1910.1200), Globally Harmonized System (GHS) labeling, and the role of Safety Data Sheets (SDS) in hazard communication. Emphasis is placed on proper chemical handling, storage, disposal, and documentation, as well as the use of engineering controls, personal protective equipment (PPE), and exposure response procedures. The program also addresses patient safety considerations and compliance strategies to ensure a safe and legally compliant dental practice and dental laboratory.

After participating in this webinar, participants will be able to:
1. Identify key regulatory requirements under OSHA’s Hazard Communication Standard.
2. Discuss the respirable and contact diseases which could occur due to exposure to certain chemical hazards.
3. Interpret and apply chemical labeling and Safety Data Sheets in dental settings.

This experience has provided a unique understanding that enables him to help companies integrate compliance in a way that not only mitigates risk but also benefits the business. Gary became a Certified Dental Technician in 1991 and in 2015 obtained his Quality Auditor certification from the American Society for Quality. He performs safety and quality audits throughout the U.S and internationally.
