The course highlights the often-overlooked role of the dental lab in maintaining a safe environment. Participants will learn about the unique infection control and OSHA compliance needs of dental labs, as well as how to safely manage chemicals and equipment in both labs and practices. As dental technology advances, more dental offices are incorporating 3D printers, scanners, and milling machines into their practices. This presentation will further highlight the risks associated with the use of hazardous materials, the importance of proper storage, handling, and disposal of these chemicals to ensure a safe working environment. From understanding proper ventilation for chemical use to adhering to safety protocols with new equipment, this course equips dental professionals with essential knowledge to ensure safety across the entire dental team.
After participating in this course, participants will be able to:
- Identify infection control protocols specific to dental labs;
- Apply best practices for safely integrating and operating new dental technologies such as 3D printing, including chemical safety procedures and equipment maintenance in the lab and practice;
- Evaluate the effectiveness of ventilation systems to ensure safe air quality when using 3D printers and other related machinery.
