Celebrate National Safety Month in June

Written by Mary Bartlett | Jun 15, 2026 6:04:41 PM

Since 1996, the National Safety Council has recognized June as National Safety Month. This is a time to raise awareness and promote safe practices in all environments. At SafeLink, we encourage you to take this opportunity now to engage your team in a fun and meaningful safety activity that reinforces the importance of protecting employees both in and out of the workplace.

Be Creative—Make It Fun!
Not sure where to start? Here are some ideas to spark engagement:
•    🔥 Put Out a Fire – Invite your local fire department to demonstrate proper fire extinguisher use.
•    👕 Wear Your Safety Pride – Have everyone wear green to show their commitment to safety.
•    🔍 Safety Scavenger Hunt – Teams locate key safety features (fire extinguishers, exits, eyewash stations, etc.). Ask us for a ready-to-use scavenger hunt game!
•    🎭 Safety Charades – Act out safety scenarios like using a fire extinguisher or locating a first aid kit.
•    🎬 Role Play a Hazard – Simulate hazardous situations and discuss the correct response steps.
•    💧 Chemical Spill Drill – Stage a mock chemical spill and practice response protocols.
•    📌 Posters & Flyers – Share visual reminders of key safety topics.
•    ⭐ Safety Star Recognition – Award stars to team members who consistently demonstrate safe practices. Highlight the "Safety Star" of the week!

Why It Matters
Safety is not a one-time event. It’s a habit built through regular practice and engagement. Creating a culture where safety is top of mind leads to greater accountability, more hazard reporting, and better teamwork. When employees feel safe and supported, they are more focused, productive, and resilient.
